Life drawing was never something I was good at at Uni, I enjoy oddly shaped limbs and not getting everything in proportion, but I really enjoyed our lessons because we had a great tutor called Dean.

Drew these from my head, it felt nice drawing something and not worrying what it was going to be used for. I finally feel that me and colour are getting along, it's only taken a 4 year battle!

I've been taking part in 1 hour comic day today. Hopefully by tonight I'll have a whole comic about my very boring day, bet you cant wait!

The feed back I received on my pap form became a bit of a running inside joke

I caught the train to see one of my best friends in Birmingham the other day.

I like to be early for things, but I over judged and had to wait 20 minuets for my train.

Luckily these two girls were sat next to me keeping me amused. I did a little sketch once I'd got on the train and then doodled this today.

Character Design

I've had this character bumbling around in my head for a while.

I say bumbling because I don't really imagine him to be the most agile of people.

A few weeks ago my tutor from when I was at Uni (and good friend) Viv Schwarz did a really great blog post about character design.

So I followed her method of drawing shapes and then fitting my character into them.

My favourite is the one with the magnifying glass.

I went to Bristol the other day. I decided not to take my laptop but instead took my sketchbook so I could plan out some designs for a book I'm working on.

Rocking Horse

When I was little my dad and uncle came home from the tip once with a rocking horse.

I already had a rocking horse that my dad had made for me, but I outgrew it pretty quickly, it was only small. This rocking horse was big and blue. Where the tail and mane had once been were just holes, so I threaded blue wool through them. I did the little doodle the other day and decided to colour it up.

I've always wanted to be able to draw ships, not really sure why, so when I found a 1980's children's book on Ships and Boats at the outdoor book shop in Hay on Wye the other day I snapped it up for a small donation.

Then yesterday I spent ages trawling through and picking out my favourite bits of ships and merging them together, hence why (if you're a big ship expert) you will probably see a mix of 17th century sails with influences from 1400 Mediterranean ships.

Sorry it's been so quiet on here recently.

Just a quick doodle that didn't make the final cut for something bigger.

I've been away.

Heres a little illustration I did before I left. It was for something bigger, however my indecisiveness got the better of me and I decided to go with a different concept for the design (which I can't show you just yet) What do you think? Today me and some of my friends from Illustration are on the front page of the University of Plymouth website, the picture was from the private view of our degree show, we pained on the car behind and it was shown on the ground floor of the Roland Levinsky Building during the degree show.

A little later than promised! but never mind, I started back at work this week, all my spare time has therefore been spent drawing and sleeping, here are some of my drawings from when I visited the British Museum in London. I spent about three hours in there, it was so hot and busy, but I got these little sketches done, it's an amazing place. Thought I'd make the most of the weather and photograph them instead of scanning. Hope everyones had a lovely weekend!

Hi everyone, sorry its been so quiet recently.

Hello to the new 14 followers I've picked up in the last few weeks. I know I said I'd do a give away when I reached 150... but things have been a little busy since then. This isn't going to be a real post i'm afraid, instead its going to be a promise.

I promise to update this by the end of the week. I promise it will include some drawings from London and maybe even a few photos. I know I still haven't posted images of my work in Ballad of Magazine OR Oh Comely Magazine, so I'm sorry about that, I'm sure most of you have already seen it by now. I'm back home for a few days for my nieces birthday, I used the time on the train to colour in this drawing of Francis Drake. Here the original drawing I did, it started out a quick sketch here

I think I've lost the plot a little bit, I bought myself a new scanner and it arrived today, but It was a lot of money (hence the plot loosing)

So after finishing my dissertation I needed to get back into drawing again and dug out some old family photos, they're are all pre-me so lots of my granddad and people I don't know on holiday

Just messing around with textures and pages from my granddads old note books,

I'm feeling very nostalgic at the moment

I'll put the rest up tomorrow after my light box arrives so I can get some colour into them

I know I know, I've neglectied my little blog so much the past few days/ weeks, but I've been busy doing my dissertation, anyway, here are a few things I've been getting up to.

You can now buy my work from the WeAreBirmingham store, I've got some cards, badges and mugs in there, so if you're in the Birmingham area make sure to check it out.

Over a month ago me and my friend Joe were in le pub and decided to start drawing Pokemon out of our heads. The results were outstanding as some of them we got spot on (Koffing) and some of them were way off (can anyone even remember how to draw hitmonchamp from there heads?!?!) Here are the results!

I mentioned previously that I was working on something a little bit different (I deleted the post actually because it was making my lovely blog look a little bit messy) But anyway I decided to do something completely opposite to what I was doing, it's defiantly helped my work, based around a story in the newspaper about a sex dungeon found in Lee Mill, Devon. We've been working on the big window at the front of RLB in Plymouth, its for an exhibition thats coming up in a few weeks. It's looking really good, unfortunately after my the 24 hour draw this weekend i was so tired that i only did a few quickly last night, but its looking really good so if you're around make sure you check it out.
